The breads alone are a revelation – fresh from the bakery, they don’t overwhelm the fillings but frame them. Mendocino Farms sources their ingredients from local farmers, ranchers and food artisans for the freshest, most flavorful sandwich you’ve ever tasted. I’m thrilled to report that FINALLY, the sandwich has arrived on the West Coast. I gave up eating store-bought sandwiches years ago when Subway and Quizno became the standard for what a sandwich should be. For reasons unbeknownst to me, Southern California never really got with the sandwich program. I grew up eating sandwiches made in NYC delis where they know how to make a sandwich. You really should make reservations well in advance! Mendocino Farms (I should mention, I’ve had an incredible flank steak entree.) Located in a strip mall, they’ve been using a breezeway for patio dining (not sure if that’s a permanent setup) which provides additional seating, but don’t count on walking in. They serve salads, sandwiches and a couple of daily specials, but it’s ALL about the pasta, which is hand-rolled daily. There’s a Michelin-trained chef in the kitchen using local, market-driven ingredients. This tiny establishment is making big waves on the local food scene. BUT! They also offer dual happy hours and a Bar a la Carte menu, so you can eat and drink your fill at a very reasonable price! If you’re looking for a great cut of meat, look no further. One of the few places in the South Bay where you’ll be comfortable getting dressed for dinner (even though some patrons show up in shorts and t-shirts). The decor is old school, men’s club – lot’s of dark wood, low lighting and leather booths. ![]() Casual, delicious, beachy! Fleming’s Prime Steakhouse Craft Shack celebrates the local craft beer scene with a roster of South Bay-only craft beers from the Strand, 3 Weavers, El Segundo Brewing, Smog City and more, plus wine and spirits from artisanal producers. Situated in the center of The Point, diners order at the counter and can enjoy a meal on the patio, on the grass in the Plaza or take it to-go. ![]() From a tiny Pakistani market that will surprise you with whatever they feel like cooking to a takeout window serving one of the best breakfast burritos in town, the South Bay has it all. There are almost as many restaurants as there are beach volleyball courts along the stretch from LAX to San Pedro. To put it mildly, the South Bay is massive.
